With smoke and mirrors employed by both sides in this bitter impeachment debate, deciding who to believe is difficult. But one thing is clear: if Barack Obama’s actions had remotely resembled Trump’s (including coddling dictator Kim), Republicans now defending Trump would have SCREAMED for Obama’s impeachment. What if Obama had:

Some Democratic presidential candidates are making a potentially fatal campaign mistake – outlandish promises to their left-wing base. This strategy, conventional political wisdom for years, often succeeded. But Donald Trump has smashed conventional wisdom, with his “Bull in a China Shop” style (some might call it “Bulls**t in a Russia Shop” instead).

Will we someday give thanks we had leaders such as Trump, Nunes, Jordan, Gardner and Graham to inspire us? Will they compare favorably with historic figures like Washington? If these are the best and brightest one of our major political parties can come up with, I’m not optimistic about our future.

President Trump and Republicans, time to “put up or shut up”. Are you serious about preventing mass shootings? Are you serious about mental health as the true cause? If so, are you willing to spend money (without increasing deficits) to seriously address that issue? Likewise, Democrats. Can you look beyond more gun laws as the only solution – and stop advocating (as one presidential candidate has) radical ideas like confiscating weapons Americans purchased legally? Can you instead support a bipartisan solution that might actually WORK?

After two mass shootings (commonly defined as “acts of violence, excluding gang shootings, domestic violence, or terrorist acts sponsored by organizations, in which a shooter kills at least four victims”) within 13 hours, will anything change? With Dayton and El Paso grieving their combined 32 dead, will politicians piously pledge to “remember them in our thoughts and prayers”? Or DO something to confront gun violence plaguing America?

Regarding guns, can Americans agree on anything? Can we agree we live in an unprecedented era, with more mass shootings* in America than ever before? Sadly, we have more mass shootings than any other country. Worldwide, nearly one-third of them between 1966 and 2012 occurred here. In 2015, we averaged one PER DAY. So far this year, we’ve suffered over 150 of them.

Democrats began their quest to retake the White House from their least-favorite Republican President by forming their customary circular firing squad – shooting each other down, rather than their opponent.

After decades of divisive conflict, with countless casualties, TMM asks: Can we agree both sides (pro-life and pro-choice) have legitimate beliefs – and neither side will surrender? Can we find solutions neither side is HAPPY with – but both sides can LIVE with?
